Bosch Drill Battery
By Ken Walker
One thing is for sure, if you ever go shopping for a replacement Bosch drill battery you're going to
find more options then you care to look at. So many models of
drills, so many models of batteries for those drills, and so many sources of batteries.
It's enough to make your head spin.
For example, there is a GSR 7.2V, a GSR 7.2VES-2, a PBM 7.2, and a PSR 7.2VES. These are all different drills, but guess what? They all take the same battery.
For either of those drills, the same battery would work, but you can get several different batteries
depending on how many amps you want. You can get a 1500mA, a
1700mA and a 2000mA. What do the amps mean? Let's just put it this way, the more amps you have, the longer the battery
will last between charges.
Just because a battery manufacturer or website says a product is a Bosch drill battery, doesn't mean
it really is a good battery for your drill.
There are some battery manufacturers that simply don't make good quality products and they won't
last long at all.
Make sure that the Bosch drill battery you
purchase comes with a warranty. That way you'll be able to return
it if it dies in 2 months.
Try to drain the battery before recharging it. If you
only discharge it a little and then plug it into the charger, it will develop a memory that will prevent it
from charging well in the future. Eventually, the battery simply
won't hold a charge no matter how long you charge it.
Conversely, you shouldn't leave the battery plugged into the charger for too long. Overcharging will shorten the life of the battery dramatically and before
you know it, you'll be needing to replace the battery.
